IBM first demonstrated its commitment to analytics with significant investments in related software over the last four years (SRD, Cognos, SPSS). Just last month, IBM announced a major reorganization that created its first new functional practice – Business Analytics & Optimization (BAO) – since the PwC Consulting acquisition.
IBM is rolling out the analytics asset in its Strategy & Change (SC) practice. One example is named Corporate Brand Analysis which allows for the analysis of unstructured information found across the Internet and the extraction of patterns in consumer opinion related to a client’s business issues.
