Erick Burchfield, Managing Director, Research Erick Burchfield
As Managing Director of Research, Mr. Burchfield leads research and analysis for Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory’s proprietary studies and services. His published research includes: Operations Management Consulting Marketplace; Supply Chain Management Consulting Marketplace; Customer Strategy and Interaction Consulting Marketplace; and R&D Strategy and Product & Service Development Consulting Marketplace.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Burchfield was a Senior Consultant and served as Operations Manager of the Business Planning Solutions group at HIS Global Insight, where he led a variety of strategic planning consulting projects in several industries, including energy, construction, consumer products, and manufacturing. Prior to joining HIS Global Insight, Erick was a Consultant to American Indian Tribal Nations at Taylor Policy Group and an Economic Consultant at Compass Lexecon (an FTI company), where he worked principally on energy and transportation projects, dedicating substantial time working to obtain regulatory approval for mergers and acquisitions such as the joint-acquisition of Conrail by CSX and Norfolk Southern (1997) and the FTC-challenged BP Amoco acquisition of ARCO (2000).
Mr. Burchfield holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Business Administration from the Anderson School at UCLA, where he concentrated on Finance and Marketing Statistics.

Paul Johnston, Managing Director, Analyst Services Paul Johnston
Paul Johnston has more than 15 years of experience in strategic and market planning, both as a consultant and a corporate practitioner. He has followed the services industry as a market analyst or strategy consultant since 1993. Previously, Mr. Johnston was a Senior Strategist with NerveWire, where he was involved in a variety strategy and planning projects for consortiums, financial services firms, software companies, and services organizations.
Prior to NerveWire, Mr. Johnston was the Senior Director of Strategic Marketing with Cambridge Technology Partners, and led the Professional Services Research Practice for International Data Corporation.
Mr. Johnston holds an M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School of Business, and a B.A. in Economics from Colby College.

Tom Rodenhauser, Managing Director, Advisory Services Tom Rodenhauser
Mr. Rodenhauser has spent nearly 20 years advising leading management and IT consulting firms on strategic growth, talent management, and market positioning initiatives. He has also analyzed hundreds of consultancies in order to advise clients on best practices in consulting services. As the former head of Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory and editor of Consultants News, he leverages his own extensive network and industry knowledge with Kennedy’s 40-year legacy of highly-referenced consulting industry analysis.
He is a frequent speaker on management and IT consulting industry trends, and a regular contributor to the business press as an industry expert. His commentary is routinely quoted in such leading media as the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Business, The New York Times, Financial Times, Investor’s Business Daily, CNN, MSNBC, and others.
Prior to his work with Kennedy, Mr. Rodenhauser founded Consulting Information Services, LLC, an independent advisory practice to the management consulting and IT services industries. During his early career, he helped develop and execute the marketing and communication strategies for several Fortune 500 companies, including Electrolux (Frigidaire), The Limited, and Bob Evans Farms, Inc. He also worked on fundraising and marketing programs for several leading business schools.
Mr. Rodenhauser holds a B.S. in Journalism from The Ohio State University.

Bob Sutherland, Manager of Benchmarking Research Bob Sutherland
Bob manages Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory’s firm management benchmarking research of consulting compensation, fees, financial, and operational metrics. He joined Kennedy more than 8 years ago in a business development role, aiding customers in navigating Kennedy’s portfolio of market research products, analyst services, and custom advisory services.
Prior to joining Kennedy, Bob was a Senior Analyst and Consultant at Technology Business Research (TBR). In that role, he authored quarterly research on IBM, HP, Oracle, and other market-leading providers of IT hardware, software, and services. Additionally, he advised clients on various business strategies, including product positioning, technology selection, branding and marketing, and go-to-market strategies to the business and consumer markets. He began his career serving the computer, telecommunications, and medical device industries in a sales engineering role for an electronic components division of Illinois Tool Works (ITW).
Bob holds a B.A. in Business from Lake Forest College and a Masters in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.
